This pot has been inspired by the tradition of ‘face pots’ found in Medieval and Roman contexts and as far back as Troy! (archaeological Hisarlik c2550-1750 BC). It is decorated with spiral motifs to resemble prehistoric petroglyphs and the suggestion of a face carved into rock to give my interpretation of a ‘face pot’ from BCE.
This pot is made from buff stoneware clay and glazed in a basalt grey glaze. It is a decorative and useful pot which will sit nicely in any room in your home.
