This design of this lopsided pot draws on my experience of piecing together pottery sherds in an archaeological store and holding them together with masking tape in an attempt to reconstruct a pot. The soft green and yellow colour pallet is inspired by the pottery sherds that I have collected from the River Thames foreshore (called ‘mudlarking’), some dating back to the Medieval period.
It is made from an earthenware buff clay, decorated with yellow and green engobe (a cross between slip and glaze). The interior is finished in a Verdigris glaze and the exterior in a final clear gloss.
This pot works well as a decorative colourful piece or perhaps a small vase.
