They have been interpreted as being associated with fertility, reproduction, motherhood, a matriarchal society and called ‘mother-goddesses’ and ‘Venus figures’. Such interpretations are open to be challenged but the aesthetic of the prehistoric figurines is invariably pleasing and intriguing.
This ‘Cryccen Goddess’ is yours to interpret as you wish. She is fleshy with ochre coloured hair and a tattoo. A timeless female.
Made of a white earthenware clay, unglazed and decorated with oxides. Individually numbered.
